Took some rough lyrics, begged Prateek to help me out, put some melody to the words, structured out the thing and here we are.

Presenting...*ding ding ding* a rough recording of Knife

Like always, don't hate it!

Knife lyrics
I'm not going to ask you to let your sleeping demons lie
I won't let you to kill yourself a little bit inside
Every day, every hour
Mobbed by these thoughts you don't let peace get to you
You let the love of sadness to stick to you like glue
Every day, every hour
Where is your knife?
Murder it, murder it
Put up the fight
Step in the daylight
Who'll clean this up?
Icky cerebrum on your floor
Where is your knife?
Get up now.
Between gallows and being friends with your spirit noose
You pass your insipid life drowned in this abuse
Every day, every hour
One day this mirror won't reflect the romance in your head
Save yourself that moment when all you see is red
Every day, every hour
Where is your knife?
Murder it, murder it
Put up the fight
Step in the daylight
Who'll clean this up?
Icky cerebrum on your floor
Where is your knife?
Get up now.

Ohai! I made a cover of one of my favorite songs - Lithium by Evanescence. Took me really long to get this right - 4 difficult months to learn it on the piano and 2 months to get this far. Some chut has already Disliked it on YouTube :P Iz ok, I can handle it. Just needs to show I have to do better :) Yuss. Pliss to try and enjoy! :P

It's not an Original Composition but I didn't have a better label to tag it with.

Our second original together! This one's close to my heart 'cause I semi-wrote, semi-composed and well, fully sung it :P And we did it in 30 minutes flat! What's more is that we performed it in college right after, in front of an audience of about 400!

I have this theory that Gaurav (Chatterji), Prateek (Dubey) and I are three lovers that can't create music without each other (with the exception of Gaurav, our next A.R. Rahman) None of us are really complete without the other :)

Anyway this version was supposed to be a dummy version, just a simple acoustic. Proper recording will happen later since my lovers and I are parted by distance.

Hope you enjoy it! (or don't hate it)

A lot of people asked me for the lyrics so here we go. Lyrics credit to my senior Kasturee Kailash. She wrote this short poem accompanying a beautiful painting she made with the same name. This prompted our guitarist, coincidently her boyfriend(!), Prateek Dubey, to compose on it and the result is the gift of a song! We performed it for her on their farewell, sweet innit? :)

According to her, it is loosely inspired by a story she had heard wherein a boy is trying to look for his lost butterfly and while trying to catch it he accidentally kills it.

Blue Butterfly

[Verse 1]

My lost blue butterfly
Cold jaded mist from the morning sky

My lost blue butterfly
Cold jaded mist from the morning sky

Ebony and gold covered
Wings colored blueberry ripe
Canvas on the azure sky
Have been painted

[Chorus]
Million fireflies [X4]
My lost blue butterfly
Won't you try?

[Verse 2]
Half bitten wings a curled up carcass
Blue blood in a bowl of red criss-cross mess

Half bitten wings a curled up carcass
Blue blood in a bowl of red criss-cross mess

I dream of wings folding and unfolding
My hands won't let you go by
Canvas on the azure sky
Have been painted

[Chorus]
My lost blue butterfly

Virgil Thomson, an American composer and critic, once said "I've never known a musician who regretted being one. Whatever deceptions life may have in store for you, music itself is not going to let you down"

On that beautiful note, I present to you Zinai, a collection of a few songs composed by a couple of us 'sincere' musicians at MICA. It's all feel-good, mellow music. Like nutritious food for the soul :P

Danke!

Original original original! Ok my vocals aren't that great on it because I guess none of us anticipated we won't get the chance to re-record before the seniors left :( Anyway still a minor hit with the 'stoners'!

Only good pheedback pleej, not that screechy one from the amps.

Golee and Prateek - First year wouldn't have been even half as beautiful if you guys weren't around. Consider this vid a small thank you from my side :)
